What’s a Bill of Lading?
A bill of lading (BOL) is a legal document that a carrier gives to a shipper that lists the goods being carried, how many there are, and where they are going.
And what are the purposes of Bill of Lading?
It is mostly used for three things:
- Received Goods: It’s like a receipt that shows the goods were received and are in good condition.
- Contract of Carriage: This document spells out the terms and conditions of the shipping deal between the shipper and the carrier.
- Title Document: This document can be used as a title for the goods and can be given to someone else. It is necessary for the transfer of ownership of the goods.
Let’s look at the BoL Template in detail.
